Meet Our Founder
Sam Azar is a seasoned nonprofit leader with nearly 20 years of experience in strategic planning, program evaluation, organizational development, and innovation.
He has held leadership roles at major national and global organizations, including Habitat for Humanity International, where he established the U.S. Research and Measurement function to help prove and improve outcomes for households across the US; Compass Working Capital, where he led the national scaling of its evidence-based financial coaching model through training and technical assistance; and United Way Worldwide, where he served as the organization’s first-ever Director of Strategy globally and founded its Innovation Lab. He began his career at Metro Boston Housing, supporting families and individuals with low incomes and helping establish the Boston Homelessness Prevention Clearinghouse.
In addition to his nonprofit leadership roles, Sam spent several years at Deloitte Consulting where he was a Manager in the Strategy & Operations Practice, advising federal agencies including the General Services Administration (GSA) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) .
Sam holds an A.B. in Public Policy and Philosophy from Brown University and an M.P.A. from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a certified AI Engineer through AI Makerspace.
